Informational Queries - How To Discuss

By Mia Kelly

Informational Queries

The search is performed solely to obtain information on the subject. The user uses the search engine to enter a keyword or phrase to get informational results. By classifying searches into these different categories, search engines can determine which results should be prioritized for search users. Query-based search allows users to take advantage of certain processes and keywords used by the search engine.

Any word in a search can be interpreted as a reference point for the results. This allows Google, or whatever search engine you are using, to return multiple relevant results. You can also prioritize certain pages or websites that you think are most important to you.

A query in which the user searches for information, such as the answer to a question.
