Can you replace tail lights with LED lights?

Can Tail Lights Be Replaced With LED? It is not too difficult to replace your tail lights with LED bulbs, as long as you find the right one to fit your car. LED bulbs can simply be swapped into your car in most cases, although some might require extra components to get them to work properly, which I’ll cover below.

Do LED tail lights need a load resistor?

You need to fit load resistors on each indicator light and possibly stop, tail and reversing lights as well. These load resistors need special mounting to ensure the component does not overheat and cause potential fire hazards.

Are smoked LED tail lights legal?

One thing is for sure. Blacked-out tail lights are illegal in all 50 states. If you can’t see anything through your tail lights, and you can’t see your turn signal when it’s turned on, your tinted tail lights are illegal. This is for safety purposes.

Are LED tail lights worth it?

LED tail lights may last for 10 years or more because they are highly durable. Unlike their traditional incandescent counterparts, they are less susceptible to breakage because they do not have a filament and the heat they produce is highly concentrated.

Thanks to their brightness, LED brake lights make it easier for other drivers to see when you’re slowing or stopping. However, please note that any LED bulbs used in your brake, sidelights or fog lights are not road legal, either.
